FESTIVAL OF LEISURE 2012

23rd and 24th June

A lovely time was had by all the club members during the first day of the festival - albeit a little cold and wet at times!

Thanks to all the club members who came to set up on the Friday evening - even in a very strong wind we managed to keep hold of the tent and get the aerial errected!

Day 1 - Saturday

Members present - Lewis (Chairman), Bob, Peter, Jacqui, Steve, Robert and Isobelle - thanks to Pete, Jacqui, Lewis and Robert for operating today. We made some very interesting contacts with people ranging from Scotland to Ireland to the heights of Derbyshire and Bar Beacon! Very good. Lots of interesting chat was had about location, operating conditions and of course, the inevitable weather!

Only a couple of visitors to the station today!

We hope for better weather tomorrow.

Day 2 - Sunday

Members present - Lewis (Chairman), Bob, Peter, Jacqui, Steve, Robert and Isobelle, Callum, John - thanks to Pete, Jacqui, Lewis, Robert, Callum and 'hero' Steve, for operating today.
Contacts ranged from - Matlock to birmingham; from - Rome to Malaysia!!!! Fantastic!!!!

A few more visitors too - nice to see people taking an interest in our hobby and enquiring as to what and why and how we do what we do!!

Here's to next year....

INTER CLUB CONTEST

Let's have all your ideas for the club contest next April!

Specific dates?

Legth of time?

Band/s?

We know that the power limit will be 50W so that Intermediate members can also participate on an equal field. No cheating chaps!

Any ideas for recording the contacts???????

Please reply with your ideas...

SDAWARG SUGGESTIONS!

What would you like to see from your local club?

Let's have some suggestions...

TEA SURVEY!

As a fellow amateur, and observer of the fine breed...I have come to realise over the years that one of the favoured beverages of Hams is a fine cup of tea!

Bob (G7JHW) was wondering which brand is the most favoured!

Good Old Ham Radio!

This is a new venture for our radio group - infact - they know nothing about it as yet!!!!!
South Derbyshire and Ashby Woulds Amateur Radio Group is based in
Moira, South Derbyshire, UK.
We all have an interest in radio and membership spans many decades.
It is hoped that this is going to be an enhancement to the website:
and an area where you and indeed we, can communicate and
indeed BLOG away to our hearts content!
Welcome one and all - let's hear from some of you fellow amatuers or shortwave listeners!
